Service Description
Qi Gong (pronounced CHEE Gung) is an ancient Chinese method of gentle exercise and mindfulness that can be performed by just about anyone. The playful practice includes Movement, Breathwork, Static Poses, Visualization and Sounds which focus on optimal health, fitness and well-being, and change seasonally to reflect the body’s needs during different times of year in accordance with the teachings of Traditional Chinese medicine. The Fall Class gives us the opportunity to balance the Lungs and boost immunity. This practice is also great for balancing and processing emotions of deep sadness or grief/depression. Class meets via Zoom Mondays at 6:00 pm and Thursdays at 11:30 am, and occasionally in person. The movements are very similar to light stretching and calisthenics but also facilitate a meditative state and connection with the movement of Universal Energy through the body. The overall intention of the class is “One inch taller; Five years younger”. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Dana McAvity has been practicing and studying QiGong for 13 years. She received her teaching certification from Lee Holden and has also studied intensively with various Masters, including Yang Yang, Mingtong Gu, Robert Peng, and Kenneth Cohen. She is affiliated with the Global Lyme Alliance and serves on the board of the Hyde School in Bath, Maine.
