Rich Savage

Bio
Rich Savage is a proud graduate of the Rye City School District, having attended Osborn School, Rye Middle School, and Rye High School. He continued his education at Iona University, where he studied finance, marketing, and computer science. After exploring several early career paths—including roles as an analyst at Mac Warehouse and in the financial sector—he ultimately found his true calling in education.
Rich is especially grateful for the support of his wife, Maiju, of over 30 years. Together, they are proud parents of two sons: Richard Jr., a 4th grade teacher and youth soccer coach in Massachusetts, and Sean, a Springfield College graduate who is continuing his studies to pursue a career in medicine. Their encouragement and example have been a constant source of inspiration throughout his journey.
He returned to Rye, where he now teaches 5th grade at the same school he once attended as a student. Rich is deeply appreciative to be part of such a dedicated and collaborative team and to work alongside colleagues who inspire him each day. His commitment to young people extends well beyond the classroom into athletics and the broader community.
Rich serves as one of the directors of Rye Youth Soccer and as the Varsity Girls Soccer coach, a role that has been especially meaningful to him. In 2025, he was honored with induction into the New York State Sportswriters Association Girls Soccer Hall of Fame. He also coaches golf, building lasting connections with student-athletes across seasons.
During the summer, Rich serves as the director of Shenorock Day Camp, where he is grateful for the opportunity to help create a positive and lasting experience for campers and their families.
Above all, Rich is sincerely grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from the students, families, and colleagues who make the Rye community so special.
